Happy true Independence Day to all of my American friends, and best wishes to all of you who celebrate Dominion Day in Canada. We are halfway through the year, and nearly six months into the second Trump administration. It is hard to believe how fast time flies. When I was a younger man, I can remember how interminable it felt to wade through a semester of high school or college, now it feels like I barely blink my eyes and six months have passed. Perhaps it is because I am no longer confined to the government prisons for juveniles they call school, or because work has a lot more dynamism to it than wading through worksheets, but regardless of the cause, I am shocked that time is moving as fast as it is. The inauguration feels like it was just a few weeks ago. Alas, we are closer and closer to the end of this administration, and the work that needs to be done feels all the more daunting.

I know Tucker has fallen out of favor with some, but his interview with MTG (Marjorie Taylor Greene) and yesterday’s release of the RFK Jr. Podcast are reasons to listen to him again. Especially the RFK Jr. episode. As Jack and I have described before, our biases will be prominently worn on our sleeves, and my affinity for RFK Jr. is ever-present. I still assert that he is the best cabinet pick of Mr. Trump’s and that his work, if any work could, will last after the Trump era because of how he is going about it. What I saw in the interview yesterday was a more politically restrained version of Kennedy from the firebrand that we came to love on the campaign trail, but nonetheless, you can read between the lines about what it is they are trying to get done, and it is no short of a miracle.

To think that a year ago at this time, we were wading in a campaign cessation by Joe Biden, RFK Jr. struggling to get traction after he was blocked out of the debate, and just days away from the attempted assassination of Trump. Today, we are learning that RFK will have preliminary answers to questions that so many of us have been asking for a long time. In retrospect, I still believe that we missed a historic opportunity to elect a genuinely transformative man in Mr. Kennedy, but if he wasn’t going to win, and he sadly wasn’t, this is the next best thing. This morning’s news will be filled with clips and articles about the Tucker interview because I think it is an incredible thing to witness. Five years ago, during the height of the Covid summer, Mr. Kennedy was removed from Instagram, banished from polite society, and much felt hopeless. Today things feel pretty different, and I, for one, am thankful for it.
