As Jack Buckby and I endeavor into a new media adventure together, we thought it might be helpful for you to understand our goals and objectives. Both Jack and I come from different backgrounds - I’m from the United States, and he’s from the UK. We found our voice together and mutual intellectual synergy during the Robert F. Kennedy Jr. campaign and worked hard together to report on what we were observing during that time. Since the campaign, we have been brainstorming about how we might continue doing the things in media we love to do: write, create videos, and educate. This podcast will give you a sense of what is coming after the first of the year and how we intend to bring you the best content available from an honest perspective - with a tone that was discovered during the campaign. We hope you enjoy what we are planning and will subscribe!

A Note from Jack:

For some readers, this might be the first time hearing directly from me. Meeting Aaron during the campaign was just one of the many positives of the movement we created in support of Kennedy’s vision for America. He and I had great fun bringing you The Truth Teller podcast, the name of which was inspired by my book, The Truth Teller.

As we begin to launch Besides the Revolution, you’ll find our old content archived here. That will include Aaron’s extensive written and visual work, as well as some of my essays and even entire chapters of my book. I’m excited to bring you lots of new content, too, and this first podcast gives you an idea of what it is we have in store. I also give you a look behind the decision behind the name “Besides the Revolution.”

As I describe in the podcast (which now includes video!), the name is inspired by a poem by John Cooper Clarke and the concept of life beyond the revolutionary workings of modern politics.

“Each drop of blood a rose shall be
all sorrow shall be dust
blown by breezes to the sea
whose fingers thrust
into the corners of restless night
where the creatures of the deep
avoid the flashing harbour lights
in search of endless sleep
there were executions
somebody had to pay
apart from the revolution
it's another working day

a million angels sing
peasants eating cake
wedding bells are ringing
the room begins to shake
the children free from measles all
have healthy teeth and gums
they live in the cathedrals
and worship in the slums
poverty and pollution
have all swept away
apart from the revolution
it's another working day.”

I hope you enjoy this first episode, and I hope you’ll consider becoming a monthly subscriber to help us continue to grow and improve our platform. We envision, long-term, making Besides the Revolution a truly exciting new platform that merges cultural topics with big political issues. No, that doesn’t mean making art political, nor does it mean we’ll be bringing you cringe right-wing takes on popular culture. We’re not going to call everything “satanic” and nor will we complain about Woke every day. We’ll talk about the art we love and that we think really matters, we’ll answer your questions, we’ll deliver weekly audio/visual/written content, and we’ll grow as our subscribers and finances permit. One day, we hope to rival the big independent networks like The Young Turks - and we’ll bring the message of hope that the Kennedy campaign united us around to as large an audience as we can.

Until next time, I hope you all have a happy Christmas!

Discussion about this podcast

Besides The Revolution
Besides The Revolution Podcast
Western civilization depends upon a healthy media and civil discourse - especially when we disagree. Besides The Revolution is the new version of media - a place to find out about what is happening while it is paired with culture and history.
