It’s nice to hear a traveler’s view of the city I’ve called home for over 30 years! Where you stayed in the Mueller neighborhood used to be the Austin Airport. I think they’ve done a good job of developing the mixed-use space. And I-35 is about to get a major overhaul through town. The upper level deck (as pictured) is going away and they are doing more digging to put more of the highway underground. It’s going to really be brutal living through that construction for the next decade or however long it takes! The homeless situation is pretty bad in Austin, so I really don’t like going downtown much anymore. I’ve never tried any of the restaurants you talked about, but I’ll have to check some of them out. I loved the photos and descriptions, so thanks for taking us away from crazy politics for a bit!
I read about the revisions to I 35 yesterday when I was doing some research on why it’s so dysfunctional. They did a project similar to that in Denver 20 years ago and it was very brutal to live through. I’m glad you enjoyed the article and it was nice to write about something besides a crumbling empire!🤣🤣
